Generating a Phone Onboarding Code (formerly ENA SmartVoice)

Alert: 
You may now generate a unique phone onboarding code for provisioning a phone. This enhanced security feature replaces the previous process that utilized a password provided to you by ENA by Zayo.
The temporary phone onboarding code is generated in advance via the Administrator or User Portal.


Administrators

From the Administrator Portal, select All Lines, locate the extension that needs a phone onboarding code to be generated, click on the Actions icon, and then select Generate phone onboarding code.

A pop-up will appear, asking you to confirm you wish to override the current onboarding code for the extension.

The phone onboarding code and expiration date/time will appear in a popup. Use this code when provisioning your service-provided phone.

End Users

From the User Portal home page, select Generate Phone Onboarding Code.

Yealink SIP Desktop Models

When you connect the phone to your network, it powers up to the provisioning screen.

Note
New phones power up in an unprovisioned state. If the phone was previously provisioned, it will need to be unprovisioned before continuing. For assistance with this, please contact the CTAC.

  1. On the initial boot-up, you see the User Name field. On phones with a touch screen, you may need to tap User Name to position the cursor in the field.
  2. Select numerical input by pressing the data input type soft key until seeing 123.
  3. Use the keypad to enter the 10-digit number to be assigned to the phone in the User Name field.
    • For extensions with DID numbers, enter the area code and phone number.
    • For non-DID extensions, enter the prefix for your business group and the extension.
    • If you make a mistake, press the Delete soft key to erase and re-enter numbers.
  4. Move the cursor to the Password field.
    • On phones that do not have a touch screen, press the down arrow on the navigation dial
    • On phones that do have a touch screen, tap the Password field.
  5. Select numerical input by pressing the data input type soft key until seeing 123.
  6. Use the keypad to enter the phone onboarding code in the Password field. If you make a mistake, press the Delete soft key to the right of the Password field to erase and re-enter numbers.
  7. Press OK or Done.
  8. Phone reboots.
  9. When the phone is successfully provisioned, you see the phone's extension in the upper left of the screen and/or on top of one or two line keys.
Note
If you do not see the User Name field, disconnect the phone from the power source, then reconnect. On phones with a navigation dial, you may also press and hold the OK button until you see either a Reset to Factory or Reboot option to return to the Login screen.

Yealink DECT

Setup and Connect to Network

  1. Connect the base station to the network, and, if non-PoE, to a power source.

  2. Attach the base stand.

  5. (Optional) Mount the charger cradle to the wall.

  6. Connect the charger cradle and charge the handset.

  7. Allow the handset to fully charge. The charging status indicator is located on the top right of the main screen.
    Alert

Register the handset to the base station

  1. Press OK to access the handset menu.
  2. Use the navigation arrows to highlight Settings (gear icon).
  3. Press OK.
  4. Use the navigation arrows to highlight Registration and press OK, or press 6 to open the Registration menu.
  5. Highlight Register Handset and press OK.
  6. Highlight Base 1 and press OK.
  7. While the handset is Searching, press and hold the Wireless button on the Base station.
  8. When the base station is found, see the MAC address on the handset.
  9. Press OK.
  10. If prompted, enter the default handset PIN, 0000.
  11. Press OK.
  12. Confirm you see Handset Subscribed message.

Provision Base Station to your UCaaS Service

  1. Press OK to access the handset menu.
  2. Use the navigation arrows to highlight Settings (gear icon).
  3. Press OK.
  4. Use the navigation arrows to highlight System Settings and press OK, or press 8 to open the System Settings menu.
  5. Use the navigation arrows to highlight Auto Provision and press OK.
  6. If prompted, enter the default handset PIN, 0000, and press OK.
  7. Press # to change the input mode to numerical.
  8. In the Username field, enter the target 10-digit DID number or 10-digit prefix plus extension and press OK.
  9. Make sure the input mode is still numerical and enter the phone onboarding code in the Password field and press OK.
  10. When you see the Update now? prompt, press OK or Yes.
  11. Confirm you see the Provision Succeed message.

Connect the handset

  1. Plug the jack closest to the straight end of the cord into the handset port on the back of the phone.
  2. Plug the other end of the cord into the port on the handset.

Connect to power, if necessary

If your phone has a non-PoE (Power over Ethernet) connection, plug the AC power cord jack into the 5V port on the back of the phone and into a power source.

Connect to your network

Plug an Ethernet cable into the port marked with the Ethernet symbolon the back of the phone and connect to your network.

Daisy chain to a computer (if applicable)

If you don't have an available Ethernet port to install your Poly phone, you may be able to daisy chain a computer that's connected via Ethernet. With this type of setup the phone will supply connectivity to the computer.
Internet > Poly phone > computer.

Once your phone is connected to the network via the Ethernet porton the back of the phone:

  1. Plug one end of a second Ethernet cable into the port with the computer iconon the phone.

    • If you make a mistake, use the << soft key to erase and re-enter numbers.

  15. If it is not already highlighted, use the down navigation arrow to highlight Save Config and press the center button of the navigation disk to select.
  16. When the phone completes booting, the extension number will show on the phone display.
    • If the extension number does not display, reboot the phone. Press Menu > Settings > Basic > Reboot Phone. Are you sure? Yes.

Connect Expansion Module (if applicable)

Connecting the expansion module disables pagination, so the first line on the connected expansion module is line 13. 

  1. Attach the expansion module stand to match the position of the stand on the Poly handset.
  2. Pop open the USB-C cover on the side of the phone.
  3. Insert the expansion module connector into the USB-C port on the phone and the alignment tab into the alignment tab slot in the phone.
  4. Secure the expansion module connector with the screw included with expansion module and close the USB-C cover.
Note
If installing two expansion modules on a Poly Edge 500 Series phone, it must be powered using PoE+ or an AC adapter.

    1. Plug one end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux port on the phone.
    2. Plug the other end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux 1 port on the expansion module.
    3. Insert the small metal bracket into the channels on the back of the phone.
    4. Secure the metal bracket with the thumbscrews.

      If the holes in the bracket do not align with the thumbscrew holes, turn the bracket around.

    Setup and Connect to Network

    Accessing ports on the back of the phone

    The ports used during setup are on the back of the phone.

    Connect the handset

    1. Plug the jack closest to the straight end of the cord into the handset port on the back of the phone.
    2. Thread the straight end of the cord through the channel in the phone.

  • Connect to power, if necessary

    If your phone has a non-PoE (Power over Ethernet) connection, plug the AC power cord jack into the 48V port on the back of the phone and into a power source.

    Connect to your network

    Plug an Ethernet cable into the port marked with the Ethernet symbol () and labeled LAN on the back of the phone and connect to your network.

    Daisy chain to a computer (if applicable)

    Once your phone is connected to the network via the Ethernet port () labeled LAN on the back of the phone:

    1. Plug one end of a second Ethernet cable into the port with the computer icon ()  on the phone.

  • Provision

    Once you connect the phone to the Local Area Network and a power source, it will begin its initial boot.

    1. Tap the Login soft key.

    3. Use the phone keypad to enter the number in the Number field.
      • For extensions with DID numbers, enter the area code and phone number.
      • For non-DID extensions, enter the prefix for your business group and the extension.

    4. Tap the Password field to select it.

    5. Tap the abc soft key to open the Data Entry Mode options.

    6. Tap 123 or press 3 on the keypad to select numbers mode.

    7. Use the keypad to enter the phone onboarding code in the Password field. If you make a mistake, use thesoft key to the right of the Password field to erase and re-enter numbers.

    8. Tap Submit.

    9. When you see the phone model in the Description field, tap Submit.

    10. You will see the Please wait while your phone restarts message. The phone may restart twice to update its configuration. This is normal behavior.

    11. When the phone completes booting, it will show the extension assigned to it.

  • Connect Expansion Module (if applicable)

    1. Plug one end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux port on the phone.
    2. Plug the other end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux 1 port on the expansion module.
    3. Insert the small metal bracket into the channels on the back of the phone.

      Note:
